Position Overview
Renata Medical is a commercial-stage MedTech startup developing minimally invasive solutions to pediatric cardiovascular conditions that currently require open-heart surgery. After spinning out of Edwards Lifesciences in 2019 and raising $30M, Renata Medical attained FDA PMA approval for their first device in August 2024, which is currently being commercialized across the US. With the success of their first product, Renata is growing their technical team to support the development of additional product lines. We are hiring our Catheter Engineering Lead.

We have partnered with Eason Abbott, COO, and Morey Marshall, R&D Manager, to hire our Catheter Engineering Lead based in the company’s headquarters of Newport Beach, CA. This position will own the project of taking the company’s third product line, a highly differentiated catheter-based stent from concept to clinical trial, offering the opportunity to have a direct and significant impact on pediatric congenital heart disease patients worldwide.
Position Details
Responsibilities
• Lead the development of a novel pediatric medical device project from concept selection through all design phases
• Work closely with physicians and all cross-functions to provide a solution to a complex congenital need
• Support key projects associated with other catheters and implants as a member of a collaborative Research and Development team
Education & Training
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering
• 5+ years of experience in medical device development from concept to commercialization. Class III medical device R&D is beneficial.
Skills & Experience
• Expertise in medical device product development and design
• Experience in a clinical setting or previous relationships with KOLs
• Experience as an engineering project design lead is preferred
• Proficiency with CAD modeling and cardiovascular implants/catheters is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Strong leadership, specifically with internal team members and outside vendors
• Significant experience and knowledge with regards to medical device quality systems or Design Controls

Ability and willingness to commute or relocate to Newport Beach, CA
